While we live in Agadir, we love the opportunity to do photography for weddings in different parts of Morocco. Hicham and Lisa’s wedding took place up north in Fes. Just a few days earlier, we had a private shoot with them and heard the story of they met. Lisa is British and Hicham is Moroccan born but has been living in the US for the last twenty years. They chose a traditional Moroccan wedding and we loved how Lisa embraced all of the different aspects of a Moroccan wedding!
Lisa wore four different dresses; three kaftans and a western white wedding gown. We’ve said it before, but in Morocco the bride is really treated like a queen and Lisa looked every bit the part. The final dress of the evening was a western style white wedding gown and it’s one of the favorites we’ve seen. She was a stunning bride and we loved how Hicham couldn’t take his eyes off her all evening.
Some of Lisa’s friends and family were able to travel down from the UK and they enthusiastically joined in the celebrations! Despite the language barrier between the two families, some things don’t need to be translated. Together, they shared in the joy of these two lives being brought together.
Hicham and Lisa kept to many of the Moroccan wedding traditions, including the presentation of wedding gifts from the groom to the bride, the entrances on the Maria, and the frash seating.
We are convinced that you can’t celebrate in Morocco without dancing. So there was a lot of dancing the whole evening! A live band played some traditional Moroccan music along with a DJ. Live music always adds a fun element to a wedding and there was quite a variety throughout the evening.
It was a wonderful celebration and it was a privilege to capture this special day!
