This Palais Lona Marrakech wedding was so much fun as we just loved getting to know Azhar and Vince!
From our first conversation with Azhar, we felt a connection and were excited to capture her special day! One of the things we love about shooting destination weddings is meeting people from all over the world. Azhar’s husband Vince is originally from Angola but grew up in Portugal and Azhar is from Somalia but was raised in the Netherlands. They both now live in the UK and met while working there. We love the mix of cultures that their wedding brought!
Their wedding in Marrakech, Morocco was the second part of their wedding celebrations. It was held at Palais Lona, a beautiful villa on the outskirts of Marrakech and friends and family traveled down from all over Europe to celebrate with them.
Azhar and her female family members got ready together at the villa. It was such a fun and festive feel having everyone all together and there was lots of laughter. Soukaina did the hair and makeup for Azhar and some of her family members.
Meanwhile, Vince got ready at a different spot at the villa. He was joined by some of Azhar’s male family members. We love that Vince and Azhar opted to have a first look before making their entrance. This is such a special and intimate time that the couple can share together. Following their first look, they made their entrance with their bridal party and the Dakka Marrakechia (a traditional Moroccan band). The evening began with dancing and it carried on into the night.
Dinner was buffet style and featured some of Morocco’s most popular dishes like tajine and pastilla. Later on in the evening, Vince and Azhar surprised the guests with a firebreather. Following this, they did their cake cutting and ring exchange.
After their first dance, Azhar’s niece performed two songs for them, which was a really special moment. And then it was more dancing – including some traditional Somalian songs!
It was such a fun evening and we loved getting to know Azhar and Vince. They compliment each other so well and we felt so honored to get to capture their destination wedding.
Check out some of our favorite moments from their day.
