Top 5 “must haves” at a destination wedding in Morocco

Wondering what are the top 5 must-haves for wedding in Morocco? If you’re planning a destination wedding in Morocco, you will definitely want to include some Moroccan elements.
It’s also fun for guests to experience some Moroccan culture as well! If you’ve hired a wedding planner, they will be able to coordinate these details and many venues also have these items as part of their packages.

Best thing to do before your wedding

Make a presentation on an Amaria or mida

What’s an amaria? The amaria is a small ornate carriage that men will carry on their shoulders (the pictures describe it better than we can). The groom will walk in front of the Amaria, presenting his bride to all of the guests. Though in some cases, the bride and the groom can sit in it together.
Or you could also opt for an uncovered carriage called a mida. These are always a hit at weddings and a fun experience for the bride and groom. Normally, this takes place during the reception.

Fire breathers

This is always a huge favorite by guests and a fun way to keep the evening going once those dancing feet need a break.

Traditional Moroccan food dish

Morocco is renowned for its delicious dishes and it’s a great opportunity for guests to experience some Moroccan cuisine. We’d recommend individual tagines for each guest or mini pastilles.

Moroccan band to welcome guests

At a traditional Moroccan wedding, there will be a small band at the entrance welcoming guests with traditional music. This is a fun element to add to your wedding and definitely not something that most have experienced. It instantly adds a Moroccan flavor as soon as guests arrive and creates a celebratory vibe.

Moroccan decorations

While you don’t need to go full out Moroccan at your destination wedding, there are some beautiful Moroccan items that you can include in your wedding decor. One of the most popular is the use of Moroccan lanterns. These also create a magical atmosphere.

Whatever you choose, take advantage of having your wedding in such an exotic location and add a little Moroccan flavor that you and your guests will always remember your wedding by!
