Karim & Maria’s Rabat Wedding

Wedding photography of a traditional Moroccan wedding in Rabat

What is it about Rabat weddings that they are always some of the most fun to photograph!? Karim and Maria’s wedding in Rabat was no exception!

Karim is from Morocco and Maria is from Chile. They met while they were both living in France and later moved back to Agadir where Karim grew up. For their wedding they had so many friends and family travel in from abroad to celebrate with them. This gave the wedding such a fun international feel and we always love seeing how excited non-Moroccan guests are to experience Moroccan wedding traditions.

The day before their wedding, they held the henna party at Karim’s grandmother’s villa, which is also where the wedding was held the next day. It was a very special celebration and a great way to get to know some of the family members and guests before the wedding.

On their wedding day, Karim and Maria both got ready at the villa along with some close friends and family members. The wedding was held outside of the villa in the garden. It was an absolutely gorgeous setup and we loved all of the greenery that was incorporated.

Maria wore two takchitas and made her first entrance on the Amaria. For the second dress, she and Karim entered together, each on douras. When Karim and Maria first met with us about their wedding, one thing they emphasized was that dancing at their wedding would be important to them and that there would be a lot of dancing! And there was! We love the mix of music that Karim and Maria chose and there was something for everyone. For the first part of the evening, they had Maxim Karouchi and his band. They played a great mix of Moroccan and international favorites and really knew how to engage with the guests. Following dinner, Karim and Maria’s friend DJ Edhim took over the music and the dancing continued! Some of our favorite photos from the evening are from the dancing!

Karim and Maria are such a sweet couple who clearly have such a deep love and respect for each other. It was also so special to see how much both of their families love this couple and have welcomed them in. We really loved photographing their wedding and wish them all of the best in their life together!

Emile & Emilie’s Beach Wedding at Paradis Plage

Beautiful beach wedding photography at Paradis Plage in Agadir

Emile and Emilie couldn’t have picked a more beautiful day for their beach wedding. It was a cloudless May day with just enough of a breeze to keep the heat down. Because their wedding took place during the month of Ramadan (the Islamic holiday where Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset) the beach was uncommonly empty. They held the wedding at Paradis Plage, which is just outside of Agadir along the beautiful coastline.

Both from France, Emile and Emilie met through work in Paris a few years ago. They decided to have a destination wedding in Morocco and many friends and family were able to fly down to join them. It was an intimate group and there was so much excitement for these two.

We loved getting to know Emile and Emilie and found them to be such a fun and down to earth couple. Despite the fact that they said they didn’t like to be in front of a camera, they were complete naturals and we loved just capturing them interacting with each other.

On the day of their wedding, Emilie’s sister did her makeup and Pauline from Brooklyn Mama’s did her hair. Meanwhile, Emile got ready with his cousin.

Paradis Plage organized all of the details for the wedding and the day ran so smoothly. Enough cannot be said for the merits of having a great wedding planner to coordinate all of the details! It really takes the stress off of the bride and groom when everything is well organized and there’s a wedding planner to handle all of the details.

The ceremony took place right in front of the ocean and was just breathtaking. Two good friends officiated the wedding ceremony. Both parents shared during the ceremony along with Emile’s brothers. Emile and Emilie each wrote something to share as well. It was a very meaningful ceremony and there were definitely a few teary eyes.

Following the ceremony was a relaxed cocktail hour and we were able to capture some beautiful sunset photos with the bride and groom. Then everyone moved to the tent where the reception took place. The reception was an absolute blast with great speeches, fun dancing, a hilarious video created by some of Emile and Emilie’s friends, and exquisite food catered by Paradis Plage. Emilie’s father even serenaded the group with an Italian ballad – it was an incredibly special moment.

One of our favorite moments from the wedding was the cake cutting. You’ll have to scroll down through the pictures to see why, but it was definitely our favorite cake cutting to date and these two know how to have a good time at their wedding!

It was one of those weddings that you just leave with massive grins and full hearts. It was also a wedding that we could not narrow down our favorite photos – just too many moments that we love!

Kevin & Kamille’s Destination Wedding in Marrakech

Beautiful Destination Wedding photography in marrakech.

Destination Wedding in Marrakech – Love has a way of bringing people together from all over the world. Nine years ago, Kevin was living in the US and Kamille was in the Philippines. They struck up a friendship over the internet and gradually that friendship developed into something more. Fast forward to a few years later when they both moved to Japan for work and finally put an end to their long distance relationship.

Their wedding took place on March 2nd, which was also their one year anniversary of their civil anniversary and nine year anniversary of when they first started dating! Marrakech is a beautiful location for a destination wedding and Kamille’s parents were able to travel in from the Philippines to celebrate with them.

The morning was spent at riad getting ready. Getting ready photos are always a favorite as there is so much anticipation and emotion as couples get ready.

Kevin and Kamille were married at Eglise Des Martyrs De Marrakech. It was an incredibly meaningful ceremony. Kevin’s first look at Kamille as she walked down the aisle was just perfect and we loved how Kevin and Kamille took some time during the ceremony to say a few words of their own to each other. During the ceremony the priest serenaded the bride and groom with a love song, which was a first and such a special touch to the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, we took the newlyweds to the beautiful Agafay desert. Kamille had shared how they wanted photos in a wilderness sort of location as a symbolic reminder that all they need in life is each other. It was a perfect evening, and the snow capped Atlas Mountains were even visible in the background!

We had so much fun with Kevin and Kamille and love how well they compliment each other. It was an incredibly special and intimate day and we wish them all happiness in their future together – and hope that they come back to Morocco again soon!

Kevin & Sarah’s Elopement Photography in Marrakech

Elopement photography in Marrakech riad

Elope in Marrakech – It was an honor to do the elopement photography in Marrakech at a private riad where Kevin and Sarah promised each other forever.

The excitement and anticipation they had for their first look is one of our favorites to date! Like out of a scene from a movie, Kevin stood on one end of the balcony, while across from him Sarah opened up one of the floor length windows.

For their first look, Sarah surprised Kevin with the song from Romeo and Juliet, “Kissing you”. Could there be a more perfect song for a balcony entrance?! And the expression on Kevin’s face when he first saw Sarah was just so full of emotion and awe.

After their first look, they went up to the roof where they exchanged the vows they had each written for each other. Quite honestly, they were some of the most meaningful vows we’ve heard.

With palm trees and quintessential Marrakech rooftops in the background, a soundtrack played of songs that are special to both of them and their relationship. At the end of their ceremony, they jumped over a broom together, which is an African American tradition dating back to the 19th century.

After the elopement we did a romantic photoshoot in their private riad. We love photographing elopements in Morocco, as there are so many beautiful private locations perfect for an intimate ceremony.

It was a tremendous honor to photograph such a significant day in their story together. We loved getting to know them and found them to be the most genuine and kind couple. The love that they have each other has deep roots and is the kind that impacts those around them. Everytime we look through their photos we find ourselves just grinning. Capturing love stories has to be one of the best jobs!

Are you to planning to elope in Marrakech? We’d love to be your Morocco elopement photographer!

Xavier & Diana’s Wedding at Surf Maroc’s Amouage

Destination wedding at Surf Maroc's Amouage by Paragon Expressions

Morocco is a great place for a destination wedding and there are so many beautiful places to have it.

When Xavier and Diana happened upon Surf Maroc’s boutique oceanfront hotel, Amouge, they knew it was the perfect location for their intimate, destination wedding.

Xavier and Diana met five years ago through work and a few years later Xavier proposed to Diana on a seaplane! They live in France and run their own media business together. For their wedding celebration, they invited 40 of their closest friends and family.

Amouge by Surf Maroc has a beautiful backdrop for intimate ceremonies and as photographers, we were thrilled with the beautiful soft lighting in the space. One of Xavier and Diana’s close friends MC’d the ceremony and different family members, friends, Xavier’s son Sasha, and the couple share throughout the ceremony and then exchanged rings.

There was lots of laughter and a few happy tears, and it was evident how excited everyone was for Xavier and Diana.

Following the ceremony there were cocktails out on the beach as the sun set. Xavier and Diana’s wedding reflected their own laidback nature and desire for a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. After the cocktails, guests gathered on the terrace for dinner, which consisted of traditional Moroccan favorites – tajine, couscous, and Moroccan salad, all catered by Surf Maroc.

The rest of the evening consisted of a slideshow presentation and video, the cake cutting, toasts, and the evening ended with dancing under the moonlight.

Surf Maroc provided all of the catering and decorating for the event, and it was absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a turnkey wedding destination, check out Amouge.

Here are some of our favorite moments from Xavier and Diana’s special day…
