Tom & Lucy’s Destination Wedding at Villa Taj, Marrakech

Tom and Lucy’s destination wedding in Marrakech was definitely a wedding for the books!  Both from the UK, Tom and Lucy met six years ago while living in London. Having vacationed in Morocco on numerous occasions they decided to have their destination wedding in Marrakech.

The day before their wedding we did a romantic photoshoot with them in the Agafay desert. It’s such an incredible and unique location, and we even found some camels to complete the desert photoshoot. It was also clear enough to see the Atlas mountains in the distance.

Their wedding was held the next day at Villa Taj. This venue specializes in weddings and events, and the day was incredibly well organized. Both Tom and Lucy got ready at Villa Taj along with their bridal party. Lucy had her hair done by the talented Sophie from Coifchezvous. Their wedding party was a lot of fun and we love all of the candid getting ready shots. Be sure to scroll through and check out Lucy’s amazing heels – definitely the most amazing bridal heels we’ve seen!

As guests arrived at the wedding they were greeted by a traditional Berber band. The wedding ceremony was held outside under a canopy of olive trees. It was magical! A good friend of the bride and groom’s officiated the wedding and we love how personal and meaningful the ceremony was.

Following the ceremony, was cocktail hour up on the roof. This time also included a performance of acrobatics from the Berber band and they even got the bride and groom involved (see photos below).

Dinner was held at one long elegant table by the pool and included some Moroccan classics in the menu. Speeches took place during the meal and we loved hearing the stories and anecdotes about Tom and Lucy. There were lots of laughs and a few tears. Everything that a good speech should produce.

After dinner, Tom and Lucy did their cake cutting and then had their first dance, which they’d choreographed! Following that, the dance floor opened up and we discovered it was a crowd that was not afraid to let loose on the dance floor!

It was one of those weddings where we just couldn’t stop smiling and just enjoying the day right alongside everyone. We loved getting to know Tom and Lucy and felt honored to capture their special day.

Victor & Karen’s Wedding at Lodge K in Marrakech

We had such a great time photographing Victor and Karen’s wedding in Marrakech! Victor is from France, but spent a number of his growing up years in Marrakech and his parents still live there, and Karen is from Hong Kong. Victor met Karen while he was living in Sydney, Australia. Karen was there on a business trip and the couple spent eight months dating long distance before Victor moved to Hong Kong.

Earlier in the year they had their wedding in Hong Kong, but planned for a more intimate celebration in Marrakech for Victor’s family and friends living in France and Marrakech.

The day before their wedding, we did a romantic photoshoot with them at the Marrakech Palmeraie and Palais Namaskar. We love doing romantic photoshoots before the wedding as it’s a special time for the couple to have together before their big day and it also helps them to get comfortable in front of a camera. And it’s a fun opportunity for us to get to know the couple better!

The Marrakech Palmeraie is always a beautiful spot to take photos and really get that Marrakech desert vibe. Palais Namaskar’s gorgeous garden areas and unique architecture make it one of our favorite hotels to photograph at. For this part of the photoshoot Karen changed into her wedding gown.

Their wedding was held at Lodge K and both Victor and Karen got ready there. We love how every wedding is so unique and for Victor and Karen’s entrance to their wedding celebration, they both rode in on camels in traditional Moroccan wedding attire!

During cocktail hour they changed back into their suit and white wedding gown. It was a relaxed, intimate evening among their friends and family. Lodge K organized everything from the decor to the catering and it was all to such a high level of excellence.

Dinner was buffet style and each table had a different theme from Italian to Lebanese. Following the meal there was lots of dancing, including a choreographed dance between Karen and her father and between Karen and Victor.

It was such a fun evening and we loved getting to know Victor and Karen!

Mhend & Maria’s Rabat Wedding

Beautiful Moroccan wedding photography in Rabat

Rabat Wedding Photography – We had such a great time photographing and filming Mhend and Maria’s wedding in Rabat at Dar Nzaha. When Mhend first called us we knew theirs was a wedding we wanted to capture. We loved their vision for their day and after Skyping with both of them just felt a connection with them as a couple.

While both Mhend and Maria are from Rabat, it wasn’t until they were living in Paris that they were connected through mutual friends. Mhend proposed to Maria during a trip to London and they held their civil ceremony in France.

On the day of their wedding, Maria had her hair and makeup done at Salon Zen before arriving at the venue to finish getting. Many of her friends from France rented traditional Moroccan kaftans for the wedding and they finished getting ready in Maria’s room. It was really fun atmosphere as Maria’s friends got ready with her – there was lots of laughter, chatting, last minute lipstick touches, and of course admiring one another’s kaftans and outfits.

Meanwhile Mhend and some family members made sure the wedding hall was ready and all of the finishing touches were in place.

For their Moroccan wedding, friends and family traveled in from all to celebrate with them. The atmosphere at their wedding was so much fun from start to finish! They included many Moroccan traditions such as the Amaria and Doura and the presentation of gifts from the groom to the bride. I (Marisa) always wish we had included THAT Moroccan tradition in our wedding! 🙂 Also, getting to wear more than one gorgeous gown on your wedding day – how amazing is that?

The evening was filled with lots of dancing, laughter, and live music. It was one of those weddings where the dance floor was rarely empty and we learned that Mhend has some killer Michael Jackson dance moves!

There was a live orchestra and also traditional Andalusian music performed by some of Maria’s father’s family members. Towards the end of the evening Mhend’s cousin Amine performed. This was a huge hit and we love that Mhend and Maria made their final entrance as he was singing. There is nothing like live music to get everyone on the dance floor and his choice of contemporary hits brought out a lot of dance moves (including the aforementioned dance moves of Mhend)!

Throughout the evening guests were served hors d’oeuvres before a delicious traditional Moroccan meal.

We love the little touches that Mhend and Maria created for their wedding, including Moroccan handcrafted tiles that each guest received as a wedding favor and one of the cutest cake toppers we’ve seen!

Mhend and Maria are both incredibly sincere and warm and by the end of the evening we felt like we’d made new friends. We never get over feeling incredibly privileged to be entrusted with capturing a couples wedding day. It remains one of those weddings that we always comment to each other, “Wasn’t that a fun wedding to capture?”.

We wish Mhend and Maria all of the best in their life together!

Xavier & Diana’s Wedding at Surf Maroc’s Amouage

Destination wedding at Surf Maroc's Amouage by Paragon Expressions

Morocco is a great place for a destination wedding and there are so many beautiful places to have it.

When Xavier and Diana happened upon Surf Maroc’s boutique oceanfront hotel, Amouge, they knew it was the perfect location for their intimate, destination wedding.

Xavier and Diana met five years ago through work and a few years later Xavier proposed to Diana on a seaplane! They live in France and run their own media business together. For their wedding celebration, they invited 40 of their closest friends and family.

Amouge by Surf Maroc has a beautiful backdrop for intimate ceremonies and as photographers, we were thrilled with the beautiful soft lighting in the space. One of Xavier and Diana’s close friends MC’d the ceremony and different family members, friends, Xavier’s son Sasha, and the couple share throughout the ceremony and then exchanged rings.

There was lots of laughter and a few happy tears, and it was evident how excited everyone was for Xavier and Diana.

Following the ceremony there were cocktails out on the beach as the sun set. Xavier and Diana’s wedding reflected their own laidback nature and desire for a relaxed, joyful atmosphere. After the cocktails, guests gathered on the terrace for dinner, which consisted of traditional Moroccan favorites – tajine, couscous, and Moroccan salad, all catered by Surf Maroc.

The rest of the evening consisted of a slideshow presentation and video, the cake cutting, toasts, and the evening ended with dancing under the moonlight.

Surf Maroc provided all of the catering and decorating for the event, and it was absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a turnkey wedding destination, check out Amouge.
