Tom & Lucy’s Destination Wedding at Villa Taj, Marrakech

Tom and Lucy’s destination wedding in Marrakech was definitely a wedding for the books!  Both from the UK, Tom and Lucy met six years ago while living in London. Having vacationed in Morocco on numerous occasions they decided to have their destination wedding in Marrakech.

The day before their wedding we did a romantic photoshoot with them in the Agafay desert. It’s such an incredible and unique location, and we even found some camels to complete the desert photoshoot. It was also clear enough to see the Atlas mountains in the distance.

Their wedding was held the next day at Villa Taj. This venue specializes in weddings and events, and the day was incredibly well organized. Both Tom and Lucy got ready at Villa Taj along with their bridal party. Lucy had her hair done by the talented Sophie from Coifchezvous. Their wedding party was a lot of fun and we love all of the candid getting ready shots. Be sure to scroll through and check out Lucy’s amazing heels – definitely the most amazing bridal heels we’ve seen!

As guests arrived at the wedding they were greeted by a traditional Berber band. The wedding ceremony was held outside under a canopy of olive trees. It was magical! A good friend of the bride and groom’s officiated the wedding and we love how personal and meaningful the ceremony was.

Following the ceremony, was cocktail hour up on the roof. This time also included a performance of acrobatics from the Berber band and they even got the bride and groom involved (see photos below).

Dinner was held at one long elegant table by the pool and included some Moroccan classics in the menu. Speeches took place during the meal and we loved hearing the stories and anecdotes about Tom and Lucy. There were lots of laughs and a few tears. Everything that a good speech should produce.

After dinner, Tom and Lucy did their cake cutting and then had their first dance, which they’d choreographed! Following that, the dance floor opened up and we discovered it was a crowd that was not afraid to let loose on the dance floor!

It was one of those weddings where we just couldn’t stop smiling and just enjoying the day right alongside everyone. We loved getting to know Tom and Lucy and felt honored to capture their special day.

Richard & Adeline’s Photoshoot in Marrakech and Essaouira

One of the things we love most about what we do is the couples we get to meet from all around the world. As Morocco continues to boom as a tourist destination we find ourselves getting to work with such a fun variety of couples. Adeline first reached out to us when she and her fiance Richard were planning their holiday in Morocco. Recently engaged, Richard and Adeline will be getting married next March in Singapore, where they are both from.

This was their first trip to Morocco and they decided to also use it as an opportunity to get some engagement photos and document their experiences in Morocco. We met up with them during their stays in Marrakech and Essaouira to do a photoshoot. For both photoshoots makeup artist and hairstylist, Anna Ayshara, did Adeline’s hair and makeup and accompanied us during the photoshoots to make any touch-ups or adjustments.

For their Marrakech photoshoot we started with a few photos in the medina and then went to Jardin Majorelle. The infamous blues and yellows of the garden were a fun backdrop for Richard and Adeline’s formal wedding look. From there we headed to Le Jardin Secret where there is some beautiful tile work and Moroccan architecture. We made a little pit stop at Cafe Atay as they have a beautiful rooftop view of the medina. We enjoyed a little break over juice and snacks and Richard and Adeline showed us their photos from their proposal in Bali and retold us the story!

We captured some more fun medina photos on our way back to the car. The medina also presents fun photo opportunities and ways to be creative. Richard and Adeline were always up for whatever we suggested! Our last stop for the day was at the Marrakech palmeraie for sunset. These photos are probably my favorite from the day. I mean, the palmeraie, camels, sunset, beautiful couple in wedding attire…what is not to love?!

The camel even behaved and it was a gorgeous sunset. We love the mix of romantic photos and just fun candid shots of Richard and Adeline. It was the perfect way to end a fun day of shooting!

We met up with them again two days later, this time in Essaouira. Essaouira is one of my favorite cities in Morocco and its laidback seaside vibe is such a contrast to the hustle and bustle of the red city (Marrakech).

We started the photoshoot at their riad, Salut Maroc. The decor and colors at Salut Maroc are so unique and made for a really fun backdrop. If you’re looking for a cool place to stay in Essaouira we’d definitely recommend that you check them out! From there we explored the medina, taking advantage of Essaouira’s alley’s and beautiful doors.

After Richard and Adeline made an outfit change, we went to ramparts for some photos and then down to the harbor and the beach. We ended at sunset right near the walls of the medina along the ocean. We love this spot and we were treated to another beautiful sunset, this time over the ocean.

We had so much fun getting to know Richard and Adeline and we love how the photos capture some of their experiences in Morocco!

Kevin & Sarah’s Elopement Photography in Marrakech

Elopement photography in Marrakech riad

Elope in Marrakech – It was an honor to do the elopement photography in Marrakech at a private riad where Kevin and Sarah promised each other forever.

The excitement and anticipation they had for their first look is one of our favorites to date! Like out of a scene from a movie, Kevin stood on one end of the balcony, while across from him Sarah opened up one of the floor length windows.

For their first look, Sarah surprised Kevin with the song from Romeo and Juliet, “Kissing you”. Could there be a more perfect song for a balcony entrance?! And the expression on Kevin’s face when he first saw Sarah was just so full of emotion and awe.

After their first look, they went up to the roof where they exchanged the vows they had each written for each other. Quite honestly, they were some of the most meaningful vows we’ve heard.

With palm trees and quintessential Marrakech rooftops in the background, a soundtrack played of songs that are special to both of them and their relationship. At the end of their ceremony, they jumped over a broom together, which is an African American tradition dating back to the 19th century.

After the elopement we did a romantic photoshoot in their private riad. We love photographing elopements in Morocco, as there are so many beautiful private locations perfect for an intimate ceremony.

It was a tremendous honor to photograph such a significant day in their story together. We loved getting to know them and found them to be the most genuine and kind couple. The love that they have each other has deep roots and is the kind that impacts those around them. Everytime we look through their photos we find ourselves just grinning. Capturing love stories has to be one of the best jobs!

Are you to planning to elope in Marrakech? We’d love to be your Morocco elopement photographer!

Reda & Jackie Engagement Photoshoot in Marrakech

Engagement photoshoot in Marrakech medina by Paragon Expressions

Can you visit Marrakech as an engaged couple and NOT do a photoshoot? Should you even? We don’t think so! We were thrilled to take engagement photos of Reda and Jackie during their trip to Morocco. While it was Jackie’s first time in Morocco, Reda’s family is originally from Morocco and he still has extended family here. In Casablanca, his family held a traditional engagement party for the couple before they traveled to Marrakech.

Reda and Jackie both live in Boston and met there through an online dating website and quickly hit it off. Reda proposed to Jackie on a gondola in Italy – major points there, Reda! They are planning their wedding for 2020.

We started the photo shoot in the Bahia Palace. Reda and Jackie both wore traditional Moroccan wedding attire and drew the admiring eye of many of tourists. Bahia Palace has the intricate traditional architecture and tiles and makes for a beautiful backdrop.

From there we went back to their Riad to get some more intimate shots. If you stay in the Marrakech medina, it’s a must that you stay in a traditional Riad!

After they changed outfits, we headed back into the crowded medina. We love the juxtaposition of quiet, tender moments between Reda and Jackie, and the bustle of the medina. We ended the photo shoot at Jemaa el-Fnaa.

We had a lot of fun with these two and wish them all the best in their upcoming marriage!

Kelvyn & Abbey’s Marrakech Honeymoon Photoshoot

We love photoshoots in Marrakech, and they are even more fun with a wonderful couple like Kelvyn and Abbey.

We met up with Kelvyn and his new bride Abbey on their honeymoon in Marrakech.

Kelvyn is from Singapore and Abbey is from Malaysia. They met seven years ago through a mutual friend and after dating for a few years, they tied the knot in Italy before heading to Morocco for their honeymoon. These two are so sweet together and we had such a fun time getting to know them. They still had that post-wedding glow and they made it easy for us to capture the love between them.

We started out the photoshoot at the Fellah Hotel where they were staying. It has some beautiful grounds and unique design elements, including an old Mercedes!

We then went to the Marrakech medina, which has no shortage of stunning architecture, quaint streets, and of course, those famous dirt red walls. Pair that with the golden hour light and a gorgeous couple, and you have a photographers dream.

Kelvyn and Abbey, we wish you both all happiness in your marriage and in your life! It was an honor to capture these memories from your trip!

Williams Family Photoshoot in Marrakech

A photoshoot in Morocco is a great way to celebrate a milestone birthday! Just ask Erica.

Erica celebrated her 30th birthday in February and to commemorate the beginning of her thirties, she, her mom, and her brother took an international trip together traveling through Europe and down to Morocco. We met up with Erica and her family during their time in Marrakech.

We love when clients come to a photoshoot with a specific vision and theme in mind. Erica’s theme was regal and classy set against the Moroccan architecture of the Rodamon Riad.

Erica and her family were a lot of fun and there was much teasing and some stories passed around. We love seeing a family that has remained so close and would spend a few weeks traveling together.

Kai & Alice’s Destination Photoshoot in Marrakech

Engagement photography at Marrakech palmeraie

There was so much to love about Kai and Alice’s destination photoshoot in Marrakech! For one, it combined two of our favorite Marrakech trademarks—the Palmeraie and the medina. Secondly, their photoshoot felt like time with friends. Thirdly, well, just look at the photos! This adventurous couple is up for anything – including an early morning photoshoot with some feisty camels.

These two met in university and after five years of dating, they will be tying the knot in February. They will also have celebrations in their hometowns in China. After hearing from friends about the magic of Morocco, they decided to take a break from wedding planning and holiday in Morocco.

We loved Alice’s idea to juxtapose their wedding-themed outfits with the desert like vibe of the Marrakech Palmerie. We were even more thrilled that Alice brought along a veil to complete the look.

The Palmerie in the early morning is positively magical. Kai and Alice are completely smitten and needed no encouragement from us to cuddle. As the sun began to rise, we added a camel to complete the desert look. As we were about to leave the shoot we discovered that Alice’s ring had fallen off her finger at one point during the shoot. This led to a beautiful, spontaneous moment. After a few minutes of searching, Richard found the ring and secretly gave it to Kai. Kai then surprised Alice by proposing to her all over again. You just can’t plan these intimate moments!

Alice and Kai made an outfit change into traditional Moroccan attire and we headed into the medina. Alice had henna done the day before to complete the look. Even in Marrakech, Sunday mornings are pretty lazy and we loved having the tiny empty streets to ourselves. The Marrakech medina is full of unique spots for photos, from intricate doors to colorful rugs to quintessential Moroccan red walls.

We wish these two all the best for their upcoming wedding in New York!
