Tom & Lucy’s Destination Wedding at Villa Taj, Marrakech

Tom and Lucy’s destination wedding in Marrakech was definitely a wedding for the books!  Both from the UK, Tom and Lucy met six years ago while living in London. Having vacationed in Morocco on numerous occasions they decided to have their destination wedding in Marrakech.

The day before their wedding we did a romantic photoshoot with them in the Agafay desert. It’s such an incredible and unique location, and we even found some camels to complete the desert photoshoot. It was also clear enough to see the Atlas mountains in the distance.

Their wedding was held the next day at Villa Taj. This venue specializes in weddings and events, and the day was incredibly well organized. Both Tom and Lucy got ready at Villa Taj along with their bridal party. Lucy had her hair done by the talented Sophie from Coifchezvous. Their wedding party was a lot of fun and we love all of the candid getting ready shots. Be sure to scroll through and check out Lucy’s amazing heels – definitely the most amazing bridal heels we’ve seen!

As guests arrived at the wedding they were greeted by a traditional Berber band. The wedding ceremony was held outside under a canopy of olive trees. It was magical! A good friend of the bride and groom’s officiated the wedding and we love how personal and meaningful the ceremony was.

Following the ceremony, was cocktail hour up on the roof. This time also included a performance of acrobatics from the Berber band and they even got the bride and groom involved (see photos below).

Dinner was held at one long elegant table by the pool and included some Moroccan classics in the menu. Speeches took place during the meal and we loved hearing the stories and anecdotes about Tom and Lucy. There were lots of laughs and a few tears. Everything that a good speech should produce.

After dinner, Tom and Lucy did their cake cutting and then had their first dance, which they’d choreographed! Following that, the dance floor opened up and we discovered it was a crowd that was not afraid to let loose on the dance floor!

It was one of those weddings where we just couldn’t stop smiling and just enjoying the day right alongside everyone. We loved getting to know Tom and Lucy and felt honored to capture their special day.

Vince & Azhar’s Marrakech Destination Wedding

From our first conversation with Azhar, we felt a connection and were excited to capture her special day! One of the things we love about shooting destination weddings is meeting people from all over the world. Azhar’s husband Vince is originally from Angola but grew up in Portugal and Azhar is from Somalia but was raised in the Netherlands. They both now live in the UK and met while working there. We love the mix of cultures that their wedding brought!

Their wedding in Marrakech, Morocco was the second part of their wedding celebrations. It was held at Palais Lona, a beautiful villa on the outskirts of Marrakech and friends and family traveled down from all over Europe to celebrate with them.

Azhar and her female family members got ready together at the villa. It was such a fun and festive feel having everyone all together and there was lots of laughter. Soukaina did the hair and makeup for Azhar and some of her family members.

Meanwhile, Vince got ready at a different spot at the villa. He was joined by some of Azhar’s male family members. We love that Vince and Azhar opted to have a first look before making their entrance. This is such a special and intimate time that the couple can share together. Following their first look, they made their entrance with their bridal party and the Dakka Marrakechia (a traditional Moroccan band). The evening began with dancing and it carried on into the night.

Dinner was buffet style and featured some of Morocco’s most popular dishes like tajine and pastilla. Later on in the evening, Vince and Azhar surprised the guests with a firebreather. Following this, they did their cake cutting and ring exchange.

After their first dance, Azhar’s niece performed two songs for them, which was a really special moment. And then it was more dancing – including some traditional Somalian songs!

It was such a fun evening and we loved getting to know Azhar and Vince. They compliment each other so well and we felt so honored to get to capture their destination wedding.

Mouhssine & Nzingha’s Destination Wedding in Marrakech Morocco at Palais Namaskar

Destination wedding photography at Palais Namaskar Marrakech

Mouhssine and Nzingha’s destionation wedding is one that we will never forget. Their incredible day took place at Palais Namaskar in Marrakech. Raquel from Dreams Above and Beyond was their wedding planner and there was care given to every single detail of the day. While the wedding itself was incredibly stunning (I mean, have you seen photos of Palais Namaskar?!), what remains imprinted on our minds are countless of moments of joy from this day. This is a couple that everyone was just so thrilled to celebrate with!

Mouhssine and Nzingha met several years ago through mutual friends when Nzingha was traveling through Morocco. Mouhssine was living in Morocco and Nzingha in LA but despite the cultural differences and even the language barrier, they just felt a connection. Of course, long-distance relationships are never easy (we know this from our own experience all too well!), but as I’m sure Nzingha and Mouhssine would testify – any love worth having isn’t easily gained! Their wedding was a day they had been working towards for so long and it felt like even more of a privilege to be the ones capturing it.

The day began with Nzingha getting ready at Palais Namaskar in the company of her bridesmaids. Over at another location at Palais Namaskar, Mouhssine got ready with Nzingha’s brothers and the other groomsmen.

They had friends and family travel in from as close by as Marrakech to as far away as LA! As guests arrived at the venue they were greeted by a Marrakechi band and light refreshments.

The ceremony took place outside right beside Palais Namaskar’s picturesque waterways. Mouhssine and Nzingha’s bridal parties consisted of family members and close friends and it was the most fun wedding party entrance we’ve seen as they each grooved their way down the aisle in their own unique style! We loved it! Nzingha was escorted down by her brother to the song “Adore”.

Another brother officiated the ceremony which included one of her bridesmaids singing “Overyjoyed”, a reading from I Corinthians 13, and their wedding vows. Following the ceremony was a souk inspired cocktail hour which included snake charmers, a camel, fresh-squeezed Moroccan style orange juice, and other drinks and refreshments. This really gave all of the non-Moroccan guests a feel for what the Marrakech souk is like (albeit minus the motorbikes!).

Nzingha and Mouhssine made their entrance with Nzingha on the amaria. It was the beginning of what would be an evening full of lots of dancing! Palais Namaskar really pulls all of the stops in making an incredible atmosphere. The dinner took place outside by the pool with countless lanterns, flowers, and hues of purples and pinks. Between entrees of Morocco’s most classic and delicious dishes (pastilla, tagine, couscous…my mouth is watering just remembering!) there was dancing, speeches, and a special entrance from Nzingha and Mouhssine on the doura.

But believe it or not, the party was just beginning! Mouhssine and Nzingha had choreographed their first dance and it was such a special moment.

You will want to scroll through to see their incredible cake that came out following their dance. As guests enjoyed some dancing and slices of cake, two fire breathers performed from the top of one of the buildings overlooking the reception.

After the cake came a special surprise for their guests. Mouhssine and Nzingha had flown in the Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans! Their performance is to date one of our favorite wedding moments. The guests went wild and it was an incredible concert by the band and dancing by the guests. Can the Hot 8 Brass Band just come to every wedding?!

Mouhssine and Nzingha’s wedding was unforgettable and definitely one for the books! This couple has an amazing story – and it’s still only just beginning! We wish them the best in their life together!

Kevin & Kamille’s Destination Wedding in Marrakech

Beautiful Destination Wedding photography in marrakech.

Destination Wedding in Marrakech – Love has a way of bringing people together from all over the world. Nine years ago, Kevin was living in the US and Kamille was in the Philippines. They struck up a friendship over the internet and gradually that friendship developed into something more. Fast forward to a few years later when they both moved to Japan for work and finally put an end to their long distance relationship.

Their wedding took place on March 2nd, which was also their one year anniversary of their civil anniversary and nine year anniversary of when they first started dating! Marrakech is a beautiful location for a destination wedding and Kamille’s parents were able to travel in from the Philippines to celebrate with them.

The morning was spent at riad getting ready. Getting ready photos are always a favorite as there is so much anticipation and emotion as couples get ready.

Kevin and Kamille were married at Eglise Des Martyrs De Marrakech. It was an incredibly meaningful ceremony. Kevin’s first look at Kamille as she walked down the aisle was just perfect and we loved how Kevin and Kamille took some time during the ceremony to say a few words of their own to each other. During the ceremony the priest serenaded the bride and groom with a love song, which was a first and such a special touch to the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, we took the newlyweds to the beautiful Agafay desert. Kamille had shared how they wanted photos in a wilderness sort of location as a symbolic reminder that all they need in life is each other. It was a perfect evening, and the snow capped Atlas Mountains were even visible in the background!

We had so much fun with Kevin and Kamille and love how well they compliment each other. It was an incredibly special and intimate day and we wish them all happiness in their future together – and hope that they come back to Morocco again soon!

Mujeer & Sana Wedding in Marrakech

Beautiful Moroccan Wedding Photography in Marrakech

We looked forward to photographing and videoing Mujeer and Sana’s Marrakech wedding for a long time! And it exceeded expectations.

Sana and Mujeer are an incredibly sweet, sincere and warm couple. They met while working in Dubai and for Mujeer, it was love at first sight. After some pursuit by Mujeer, Sana also fell in love. Despite their different backgrounds, Sana is Moroccan and Mujeer is Indian, these two are such a perfect fit and the deep love and respect that they have for each other is so evident.

The entire wedding day Mujeer was just beaming whenever he looked at his bride and Sana absolutely glowed.

Wedding days usually have one or two surprises. This sunny Marrakech Saturday turned into a cold and rainy day a few hours before the wedding. However, they say that rain is lucky for a wedding day! And the rain certainly didn’t put a damper on the celebrations.

Mujeer and Sana’s wedding was held at the Four Seasons Resort in Marrakech. Guests traveled in from India, Dubai, Europe and the US to celebrate with Mujeer and Sana, along with family and friends from all over Morocco.

The Four Seasons Resort has some beautiful locations for photos, even when it’s raining. Before the guests arrived, we did a private session with Mujeer and Sana. Sana wore a beautiful traditional Indian gown and later a kaftan for these photos.

For their wedding, they chose many of the Moroccan traditions like the amaria, presentation of gifts from the groom, the negafas and of course, dresses from different regions of Morocco. They had a live band and later on a DJ. There was traditional Moroccan music, Indian music, and international favorites. Guests burned off all of the delicious food with lots of dancing.

The celebration ended close to dawn with the cutting of the cake. It was an honor to capture Sana and Mujeers special and we wish them all happiness in their life together!

Timothee & Sabile’s Henna Party

One of the wedding traditions in Morocco is a henna party before the wedding. Henna symbolizes good luck and we’ve hardly seen any Moroccan brides without henna on their wedding day.

Sabile and Timothee held a henna party the night before their wedding. Close friends and family joined them for the celebration which included the presentation of the couple on Amarias, traditional musicians and henna for all of the ladies present.

Following the henna ceremony, everyone enjoyed a meal together prepared by Sabile’s mother. With so many guests traveling in from out of country, it was a wonderful opportunity for the bride and groom to connect with their guests outside of the wedding day.

We love photographing henna parties and they give us a great opportunity to get to know the family before the wedding day.

Here are some of our favorite moments from their henna party.
