Chris & Cassie’s Marrakech Elopement

Chris & Cassie's beautiful destination wedding photography at Marrakech riad

Marrakech is such a perfect location for a destination elopement. Chris and Cassie thought so too and held their elopement at a private riad in the Marrakech medina.

A few years ago Chris and Cassie met online, and soon discovered they were actually living in the same town in Florida and in fact, even shared mutual friends! As we met online ourselves, we always love hearing these stories! After getting engaged they decided to forego doing a big wedding and to have a private, intimate ceremony instead.

They wanted to go to an exotic place and Cassie thought, why not Marrakech, Morocco! After some research they decided to hold their own private ceremony in a private riad. They choose dar zennou as it had the perfect atmosphere and ascetics for their day. Riads are seriously so much fun to take photos in as each one is so unique and there are always a myriad of creative possibilities. So if you tell us you’re getting married (or even just getting ready) in a riad, we will be excited! Ok, we’re going to be excited regardless, but riads are a special treat.

Chris and Cassie both got ready in separate rooms of the riad. This meant we could do a buildup to their first look as they didn’t see each other until then. As Chris got ready he Facetimed with his dad and his best man, getting some last minute advice and well wishes. Technology is awesome!

When possible, we think first looks are incredibly special. It’s wonderful to have that quiet moment together before the wedding begins and to just take in that you’re getting married to this amazing person. I (Marisa) am always so grateful that we did a first look for our wedding and those photos are some of my favorite from our wedding day.

As they were eloping, Chris and Cassie hired a local expatriate officiant, Peter, to perform their ceremony. If you’re looking for an officiant, we would highly recommend Peter! It was a very meaningful ceremony and included the lighting of the unity candle to symbolize two becoming one.

After their ceremony we did a few photos in their riad and on the rooftop of their medina; which even had a view of the famous Jmaa Ifna mosque in the background. It had rained off and on a bit during the day, but held off when we went out into the medina to take some more photos. We love all the unique side streets, alleys, and doors in the Marrakech medina – so many fun photo possibilities! Also, locals and tourists always love seeing a bride and groom on their wedding day!

If you want that exotic feel in your photos, getting photos within the Marrakech medina will definitely give that quintessential Moroccan feel.

We had such a fun time with Chris and Cassie and wish them all happiness in their life together!

Kevin & Kamille’s Destination Wedding in Marrakech

Beautiful Destination Wedding photography in marrakech.

Destination Wedding in Marrakech – Love has a way of bringing people together from all over the world. Nine years ago, Kevin was living in the US and Kamille was in the Philippines. They struck up a friendship over the internet and gradually that friendship developed into something more. Fast forward to a few years later when they both moved to Japan for work and finally put an end to their long distance relationship.

Their wedding took place on March 2nd, which was also their one year anniversary of their civil anniversary and nine year anniversary of when they first started dating! Marrakech is a beautiful location for a destination wedding and Kamille’s parents were able to travel in from the Philippines to celebrate with them.

The morning was spent at riad getting ready. Getting ready photos are always a favorite as there is so much anticipation and emotion as couples get ready.

Kevin and Kamille were married at Eglise Des Martyrs De Marrakech. It was an incredibly meaningful ceremony. Kevin’s first look at Kamille as she walked down the aisle was just perfect and we loved how Kevin and Kamille took some time during the ceremony to say a few words of their own to each other. During the ceremony the priest serenaded the bride and groom with a love song, which was a first and such a special touch to the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, we took the newlyweds to the beautiful Agafay desert. Kamille had shared how they wanted photos in a wilderness sort of location as a symbolic reminder that all they need in life is each other. It was a perfect evening, and the snow capped Atlas Mountains were even visible in the background!

We had so much fun with Kevin and Kamille and love how well they compliment each other. It was an incredibly special and intimate day and we wish them all happiness in their future together – and hope that they come back to Morocco again soon!

Kai & Alice’s Destination Photoshoot in Marrakech

Engagement photography at Marrakech palmeraie

There was so much to love about Kai and Alice’s destination photoshoot in Marrakech! For one, it combined two of our favorite Marrakech trademarks—the Palmeraie and the medina. Secondly, their photoshoot felt like time with friends. Thirdly, well, just look at the photos! This adventurous couple is up for anything – including an early morning photoshoot with some feisty camels.

These two met in university and after five years of dating, they will be tying the knot in February. They will also have celebrations in their hometowns in China. After hearing from friends about the magic of Morocco, they decided to take a break from wedding planning and holiday in Morocco.

We loved Alice’s idea to juxtapose their wedding-themed outfits with the desert like vibe of the Marrakech Palmerie. We were even more thrilled that Alice brought along a veil to complete the look.

The Palmerie in the early morning is positively magical. Kai and Alice are completely smitten and needed no encouragement from us to cuddle. As the sun began to rise, we added a camel to complete the desert look. As we were about to leave the shoot we discovered that Alice’s ring had fallen off her finger at one point during the shoot. This led to a beautiful, spontaneous moment. After a few minutes of searching, Richard found the ring and secretly gave it to Kai. Kai then surprised Alice by proposing to her all over again. You just can’t plan these intimate moments!

Alice and Kai made an outfit change into traditional Moroccan attire and we headed into the medina. Alice had henna done the day before to complete the look. Even in Marrakech, Sunday mornings are pretty lazy and we loved having the tiny empty streets to ourselves. The Marrakech medina is full of unique spots for photos, from intricate doors to colorful rugs to quintessential Moroccan red walls.

We wish these two all the best for their upcoming wedding in New York!

Timothee & Sabile’s Henna Party

One of the wedding traditions in Morocco is a henna party before the wedding. Henna symbolizes good luck and we’ve hardly seen any Moroccan brides without henna on their wedding day.

Sabile and Timothee held a henna party the night before their wedding. Close friends and family joined them for the celebration which included the presentation of the couple on Amarias, traditional musicians and henna for all of the ladies present.

Following the henna ceremony, everyone enjoyed a meal together prepared by Sabile’s mother. With so many guests traveling in from out of country, it was a wonderful opportunity for the bride and groom to connect with their guests outside of the wedding day.

We love photographing henna parties and they give us a great opportunity to get to know the family before the wedding day.

Here are some of our favorite moments from their henna party.
